US Navy P-245 Simulator Facility
NAS Whidbey Island, Washington
As part of a design-build contract, AKS has developed a construction drawing package for a new 9,235 SF standalone flight simulator training facility. This project expands training activities presently taking place within another building on NASWI. The new facility contains two Tactical Operation Flight Trainers (TOFTs), Briefing/Debriefing rooms, Instructor Operator Stations, Administrative offices, Computer Room, Storage and Repair room, Restrooms, Break room, Mechanical and Electrical rooms, Computer Security Room, and an NMCI room.
Building has CMU walls and standing seam metal roofing over metal bar joists and has a color scheme that matches nearby buildings. The building is situated on the site and constructed to meet Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) requirements. The interior of the building is separated into two different zones for security requirements. The separation wall has an STC rating of 50 as well as a portion of the exterior wall assembly. Roughly half of the building has a depressed slab to accommodate raised access flooring.
