GSA FDA Laboratory Reconfiguration

As part of a design-built contract, AKS developed a construction document package for the renovation of laboratory spaces for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The project included the build out of a Microbiology Lab, Chemistry Lab and Training Lab, redesign of the facilities sample receiving area, and redesign of the facility’s secure entrance. All new finishes, casework, and equipment were provided within the renovated spaces. The final design included a phased construction plan to allow the integral areas such as the secure entrance and sample receiving to be completed in the first stages to allow minimal impacts to operations.
